What is there to do in the Cinque Terre? Five jewels, from West to East:<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Monterosso<\/li>\r\n<li>Vernazza<\/li>\r\n<li>Corniglia<\/li>\r\n<li>Manarola<\/li>\r\n<li>Riomaggiore<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><p>Centuries\u2019 old dry stone walls, historical vineyards and olive groves, hilltop villages that are UNESCO heritage sites, boundless woods of holm oaks, abbeys, castles, medieval towers and incredible biodiversity both above and below the sea\u2019s surface: for all these reasons and much more,\u00a0 the \u201cParco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre\u201d was established back in 1999. <strong>Created for the Park\u2019s sustainable enjoyment, protection, education and beauty<\/strong>: this is the sense and aim of this sort of institution and with this philosophy in mind, I will explore deeper.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" class=\"wp-image-10113\" src=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20190122_125534.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>The Cinque Terre seen from Monterosso<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cinque Terre: how to get there<\/strong><\/h2><p>There are two alternatives:<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>arriving at the Cinque Terre by <strong>train<\/strong>: an extremely easy solution and ideal for reaching this area. The Cinque Terre are very well served by train services.<\/li>\r\n<li>arriving at the Cinque Terre<strong> by sea<\/strong> (on a ferry)\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>from La Spezia<\/li>\r\n<li>from the Tigullio Gulf (Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, Rapallo<\/li>\r\n<li>from Camogli<\/li>\r\n<li>from Genova<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol><p>The third option would be by car, but I would advise against it completely! It takes longer, the roads are pretty challenging and parking spaces are rarer than hen\u2019s teeth. Plus, often it just isn\u2019t possible to reach points of interest by car, with the only exception being the \u201cCosta di Tramonti\u201d or Sunset Coast (reachable from La Spezia).<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What to see in the Cinque Terre:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1: Grottoes and waterfalls between Monterosso and Vernazza (by Kayak)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The canoe is the ideal means of transport for visiting the rocky coast between <a href=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/en\/cinque-terre-eng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Monterosso <\/a>and Vernazza. It allows you to enter the numerous grottoes and explore every tiny, charming bay that you chance upon. Don\u2019t miss out on a stop at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soviore5terre.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soviore Sanctuary<\/a>. If you have a little more time available, it\u2019s certainly worth exploring further inland (Val di Vara, Varese Ligure, etc). If you don\u2019t have an e-bike, don\u2019t despair: <a href=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/en\/bike-ebike-rental\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">we can help you<\/a>!<\/p><p><strong>NB<\/strong>: You can even bring your bike on the train. Vineyards overlooking the sea (Riomaggiore)<\/strong><\/h3><p>There are many different ones to visit, but our favourite is Possa (<a href=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/en\/the-cinque-terre-italy-3-activities-in-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">we talk about it here<\/a>). Heroic and natural agriculture overlooking the sea in Riomaggiore!<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. The Sunset Coast, Monesteroli and the natural pools at Punta Pineda<\/strong><\/h3><p>Here we are just outside of the Cinque Terre and these places are not so well-known, but they have absolutely nothing to envy their famous counterparts: quite the contrary. Between Riomaggiore and Portovenere (and Palmaria Island,<a href=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/en\/the-cinque-terre-italy-3-activities-in-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> which we talk about here)<\/a> there is a stretch of coast that feels almost wild, full of magical places (Punta Pineda and Monesteroli just to mention a few) and spectacular trails (like the one from Schiara to Monesteroli).<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"742\" class=\"wp-image-10118\" src=\"https:\/\/outdoorportofino.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-1024x742.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-1024x742.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-600x435.jpg 600w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-300x217.jpg 300w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-768x556.jpg 768w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409-1536x1113.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/copyoutdoorprt.gmgnet.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/20180915_140409.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>The coast between Portovenere and Riomaggiore, seen from Tino<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure><p>A symbol of this stretch of coast is the <strong>Scoglio Ferale (the \u201cferal rock\u201d) <\/strong>(which can be seen in Pixar\u2019s \u201cLuca\u201d, set exactly here in these waters).<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Trekking from Corniglia-Volastra-Manarola<\/strong><\/h3><p>Trekking is certainly a great way to immerse yourself in nature and discover the marvels of the Cinque Terre.
